The new doorposts have been fitted in!!

After breaking out the old doorposts, the new ones era fitted in the next day.
Even my doors are fitted in.

Now we can restore the damage made to the walls and paint the doorposts.

Wow, does this mean the end is near???

Ofcourse not...a house is never finished!!!

This will be a neverending project!!!

Breaking again!!

All the original doorposts appeared to be in a very bad shape.
It was better to install some new.
This means we had to break the out!!

Floor

After a long search I found a very nice oak floor. It's not cheap, bt it looks great!!

It's also real easy to fit!

Notice the cool little beanbag for my cats!!

The bathroom is finished!!!

Finally I can use my own shower at home.

The only thin missing is the door...who cares, as long as I can wash...

Well there are still some minor things to do...

Watch the quality of the pictures...these were made with my new phone...the Sony Ericsson K800i with Cybershot camera...awsome don't you think?

The kitchen!!

After e few months of waiting the kitchen finally arrived.
To cut the costs I decided to built it myself.

Pretty nice result isn't it?

Need some extra storage space?

Because this house is a lot smaller than my old one I really had a lack of space.
Luckely this is an old house with very heigh ceilings.

Time fo a new idea...storage in my ceiling!!

I lowered the ceiling in my hall by aprox 50cm and added a floor in it.
Together with a foldable staircase it makes a perfect storage for all kind f stuff...like my kitegear!!

Project bathroom.

In this phase the construction of my bathroom is started.
Finally, because due to the demolition of my old house I actually had to move in to this house.
Untill now I had to cycle over to friends to use their shower.

It looked like a small room, but eventually it appeares to be a pretty large bathroom.

This looks like real progress

Some things are really changing now!!
I hired some polish guys to do the plastering of my house.

It is finally going to look like a real house.

See the cool window just below my ceiling. This really brings the sun inside!

A bedroom is born

Here I'm building my bedroom wall with 2 friends.
Yep, my best friend is a girl who knows how to do some constructing.

This wall is actually needed for the installation of my Central heating.

Also my toilet (I didn't have one for over 6 months and had to go at the cafe around the corner) is under construction by my uncle.

A really big room

Here we started further demolishing!
The wall of bedroom 1 is taken down.
At this time the livingroom, the kitchen, bedroom 1 & 2 form a really big space.
The floor is taken out and all the piping and electrical wiring is removed.

These pictures were made with my old phone...this explains the poor quality.

The walls are out!

Finally the walls are gone. I immediately realized the house became very light.

Because the walls (the ones I took out) were carrying the entire house above me, large steel beams were placed to carry the weight.

These pictures were taken in the winter of 2005 and I didn't have heating yet. Inside it was really freezing cold.

The kickoff

The real kickoff of my building time.
Some turkish guys started to remove the walls between the livingroom, the kitchen and bedroom 2.
Things are really changing now!!

Drawing

First I had to make a drawing of the house.
Here you can see the old situation and the future (the actual situation).
I removed bedroom 2 and changed it into a kitchen connected to the living room.
The shower is removed and partly added to the toilet. Also a bathroom is added, by making bedroom 3 a little smaller.
The walls between the livingroom, the kitchen and bedroom 2 are demolished to create a large living/dining/kitchen.

In the beginning...

Here you see a few pictures of the house when I first came in.
The house was totally renovated at the outside, but the inside needed a lot of work.

As you can see the old kitchen was useless. It actually was to disgusting to touch. All was covered with a thick layer of grease.

The central heating wasn't worth trying as well. I actually didn't dare to switch it on.

My first house

A year ago I've bought my very first house (in The Hague).
Actually, only the outside looked like a liveable house. The inside was really a mess.

In the following pictures and text you will be able to follow the time from the first unbearable moments till now (and eventualy the day af joy, when it will be finished).
